We had a good time celebrating Charles birthday last week. Charles and I had our own little celebration the night of and then had a few folks over to the house for a Tex Mex dinner on Friday.
There were several exciting highlights of the evening. Most of all, Charles was excited to use his new Nespresso machine (thanks Annie!). He was positive that everyone else would want to try out his new toy, so immediately after the plates were picked up from dinner, Charles whipped up espresso shots for everyone. Just as he finished and sat down to enjoy his successes and a toast for his birthday, his chair collapsed from having one leg be over the edge of dining room level. In attempt to save himself as well as his espresso, he grabbed for the table but ending up pulling with him another espresso. Resulting in a broken chair, two broken espresso cups, two perfectly good espresso shots wasted, and a sore back. Once we realized he was okay, we had a really good laugh at his expense.
After dinner, we made our way to a friends house to continue the evening with a Carnegie Deli cheesecake that Charles' dad sent him for his birthday as well as some more adult beverages.
Thank you to our friends who made the big 3-1 special for Charles! Especially Oscar who is pictured in the bottom right photo.
