Our First Visitors

We had our first visitors (my mom and sister) make the journey to Minot!!

I am so appreciative that they were able to take the time to visit us this past weekend.  We did our best to show them the top places of Minot.  The highlights include lunch at Charlies' Diner, visiting the winery together, dinner at Ten North Main (started by Josh Duhamel- Fergie's husband), wallpaper stripping, the North Dakota State Fair, and a cookout!

For my birthday, we went to the state fair and got to see the world's smallest woman, racing pigs, a bear show, and the swampmaster alligator show.  We consumed kettle corn, fresh cut fries, polish sausage hot dogs, corny dogs, ice cream and milk shakes.  We wanted to polish it off with funnel cake, but we just couldn't stuff one down.

In the evening, we had a BBQ at our house, and my sister's friends Johnny and Elise (who drove in from Williston, ND) were able to join us!  We ate some grub and played an intense game of taboo.  (as always, the girls won)

My mom and sister were also very helpful with identifying the plants and flowers in our yard and selecting some updates for the house.  We are going to be slowly updating the upstairs bathrooms and the kitchen, so it was good to have them share ideas for the redo.

Unfortunately, it was a couple of the hottest days of year for Minot, so we had a rule that you had to carry your own fan around the house (too bad tomorrow's high is 75 with a low of 54).  Once we had windows open and fans correctly adjusted, it was bearable. Thank y'all for being such troopers!!

P.S.- My mom has a few more pictures that she is sending me, so I will post more once I get them!
